Our Projects

Lipton Street Back Sidewalk/Patio

Herringbone pattern using Barkman Concrete Holland pavers. Antique Brown in color. We had to ensure that there were no trip hazards anywhere. The pavers had to be level with the sidewalk leading from the street, the concrete that was cut away from the steps leading up to the back door, the garage door, and the sidewalk that was on the other side of the garage by their parking pad.

This meant a total of 4 different grades to match up to in a very small area and all the while ensuring that it's graded away from the house and garage for proper water drainage.

Marjorie Street Backyard Patio and Sidewalk

Herringbone pattern using Barkman Concrete Holland pavers. Rustic Red was the main color with Sierra Grey as the border color. Granite edgers (Charcoal color) were used to border the river stone and to keep it in place. Using Barkman Concrete Victorian paver stone a circle pattern was made right in the middle of the patio.

This backyard is now as maintenance free as it gets.

PowderRidge Drive Backyard Patio

This is a patio made with Barkman Concrete Dynasty Slate Slabs that are 15.75 inches x 15.75 inches each. Color is Mocca.

1061 Autumnwood Drive Commercial Sidewalk

This is a 115 foot long sidewalk made out of Barkman Concrete Holland pavers. Main color is Sierra Grey and the black in front of each entrance is Charcoal color. A curb was poured parallel with the building about 10 feet out. This allowed us to keep all the pavers in place. Two access ramps were poured using asphalt.

St. James Square Rest Area

This was an existing 20 foot x 20 foot space that just had mulch and some wood box planters. It was time for making the space more practical and modern. Working with the client we presented three different realistic digital concepts. In the end this was the chosen one. The pavers are in a circle pattern using Barkman Concrete Victorian pavers. Color is antique brown. Electrical was brought in underground and custom bollards were made and lit from inside. The custom made concrete round bench was made in two pieces to go around the existing tree.

The pavers were graded so the water runs to the round bench and underneath it to ensure the tree gets it's water. Electrical was also run to the tree so it is lit from inside the bench and up into the branches. We can't help but look at it each time we drive by to see if someone is sitting on the bench. This can be experienced in front of the Dollar Tree at the corner of St. Matthews and St. James in Winnipeg.

McFadden Avenue Backyard Patio and Sidewalks

The patio and two sidewalks (one leading to garage and one leading to parking pad) were done using Barkman Concrete Slate 15.75 inch x 15.75 inch slabs. The color chosen was Sierra Grey. It's amazing how much "brown" is in the Sierra Grey. The deck needed some new steps and it needed re-levelling also. The last part of the project was putting in grass sod.

McFadden Avenue Front Sidewalk

As you can see in the before picture the 24 inch x 30 inch diamond face concrete slabs all cracked in half. This is because the previous installers used 5 inches of sand as a base underneath. We removed all the old slabs, removed the 5 inches of sand, packed down the mud underneath and added 5 inches of quarter down limestone and packed that. Then the new 24 inch x 30 inch Barkman Concrete slabs went down.

McFadden Avenue Sidewalk

The before picture shows sidewalk slabs that "disinigrated" from using salt in the winter to prevent slipping. You can also see that the slabs towards the street were in good shape but they were all over the place. We came in and removed every 24 inch x 24 inch diamond face slab. The sidewalk goes from the street all the way to the backyard to the parking pad. We re-used the good slabs that you can see at the front and put them at the back. New Barkman Concrete 24 inch x 24 inch slabs were purchased and placed over top a 4 inch quarter down limestone packed base.

Robindale Feature
Wall & Matching Kitchen Island

The client wanted a stone feature wall. IKEA cabinets were reinforced at the back and mounted onto the wall. The walls are false walls (behind these walls is a fully insulated wall) to allow all the media wiring leading to the TV to remain hidden. Artwork will go on each side of the TV on the now bare walls.

This house is an open concept where the custom made island separates the living room and the kitchen. The kitchen island has matching wall stones and is downlit by LED lighting. The counter tops are granite. On the other side (kitchen side) of the cabinet are doors for lots of storage.

Scurfield Ave Commercial Building Paint Concepts & Implementation

These photos show the before and after work done at a building on Scurfield. A digital composite was drawn up before work was done to show the client what the final product would look like.

Industrial Park Building Paint Concepts and Implementation

The limestone was painted over before hand. There was no way we wanted to paint over "natural" limestone so we came up with a color scheme that allowed us to only paint over limestone that was previously painted.

Commercial Building Landscape Design

This client has a ton of road frontage on a busy street. A good space for landscaping exists between the City sidewalk and the parking lot. This is one of the concepts we developed for them. A "Manitoba" feel and low maintenance were the main things I kept in mind while designing.

1051 King Edward

We remove old commercial parking lot fencing and replace with new treated 6 inch by 6" posts (or use existing if they're still in good shape). Up to 20 foot long treated boards are used. Electrical outlets are put back in place or new electrical installed (if required). We will also install any required signage that is to appear on the fencing.

Chalfont Road

Here is a retaining wall that also acts as a planter. The wall is made out of the same stone veneer material as is what is on the house. The wall has 4 sides which allows garden soil to be put inside for plants and vines. The bottom of the planter is open to allow for proper water drainage.

Kingston Row River Front

This property's tiered flower bed walls and stairs leading down to the river are crumbling and uneven. It's time to re-landscape. A new baby has also joined the family.

Proposed Concept A: Up above is a proposed wrought iron fence and gate to keep the new addition to the family safe. 6 x 6 timbers make up the new tiered flower beds and a large wall of timbers on the right that is lit up at night. This gives more play area (grass) down below. The glass gazebo is raised up using the same new timbers.

Proposed Concept B: This concept is using new retaining wall stone and concrete steps leading down to the river. It has more tiered flower beds and the glass gazebo is raised using the retaining wall stones. The half circle patio at the bottom is for a BBQ or fire pit gathering place.
